Chelsea suffered a humiliating 4-2 defeat at home to Wolves at the weekend that left them languishing down in 11th in the Premier League table. The result heaped more pressure on under-fire boss Pochettino, and Thiago Silva's wife Belle appeared to fuel speculation suggesting the Argentine could be sacked when posting on social media towards the end of the game. She wrote: "It’s time to change. If you wait any longer it will be too late."

Pochettino has spoken to Thiago Silva about the controversial post, as he revealed to reporters at a press conference on Tuesday: "He came today to talk with me. I am not going to talk in the way we were talking. The important thing is he came and wanted to talk with me. He knows me after more than 10 years, who I am, we are a very strong coaching staff and the way we operate. Of course he came to talk. We talked. It was private. And that's it.’
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Thiago Silva's future has also been the subject of much debate, with the Brazilian defender's current contract at Stamford Bridge set to expire in the summer. The 39-year-old has openly admitted that retirement could be on the cards when his Chelsea career comes to an end, but he is in no rush to make a final decision at this stage. "We know [my career] is almost over, but it’s not the end yet, so pick the right time," Thiago Silva said last month. "I’m still able to maintain a good performance. My numbers are good. This gives me peace of mind to continue. Now, the future belongs to God. Let’s finish well here, this and those four months and see what has to happen going forward. But I’m super relaxed about that."
