Over the summer, Rangers brought in a host of new players and Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard in order to try and wrestle the title away from Celtic who have won it for the last seven years.
Among the new recruits to join the club over the summer was Umar Sadiq who joined the club on loan from Roma for the season. The Roma striker, however, has struggled to feature for the side since joining and has only made four appearances for Gerrard.
Following their 4-0 win over Ayr United, Gerrard admitted that Saidq must “come to the party” and help the club up front.
With Sadiq struggling to get into the team and Gerrard calling for improvement, it’s starting to look like the striker might not be staying at the club for long.
The Breakdown
After Alfredo Morelos picked up a booking against Ayr United, which will rule him out of their semi-final match, while Kyle Lafferty is cup-tied, Gerrard now needs a striker to lead the line. With both out, it leaves Sadiq as the only out and out striker at the club, which shouldn’t put too much confidence into the fans.
The 21-year-old forward scored five goals to go with three assists last season while he was on loan at NAC Breda. Worryingly, his best season came during his time in the Italian Primavera league playing for the Spezia under-19 team.
Despite being on loan for the season, if Sadiq doesn’t start to perform, his time at Rangers might just come at a premature end this season.
Rangers fans, what do you think?
